• Flight of the TechJet

• This illustration was created for CalComp to help
• announce and promote their new large-format, color
• inkjet plotter. This illustration depicts a droplet
• of color ink on its high-speed flight from the print
• head to the paper - a hero of the ink (so to speak).
• The concept is driven by the name "TechJet Designer."

• "Phalanx"

• This piece was created for the Intel OverDrive group to help them
• introduce their Overdrive chips at trade shows and on press tours.

• Spirit Of Light
• - 1 9 9 5 -
• This illustration was commissioned by Calcomp
• to promote their large-format TechJet Color plotter.
• The image is a tribute to a significant art deco piece
• called "The Spirit of Light." This stainless steel
• figure is mounted high on the Niagra Mohawk building
• (circa 1930) in Syracuse, NY.

• Entrance
• - 1 9 9 2 -
• This illustration was intended as the cover art
• for an issue of Architecture Magazine and was
• commissioned by CalComp. They wanted to promote
• the idea that customers can buy their high end
• color plotter and still get the high-quality
• black line drawings that simpler plotters produce.
• The illustration is entirely 2-D and was created
• with Corel Draw

• Ideas
• - 1 9 9 4 -
• The assignment from CalComp was to create a poster that
• promoted their line of large format "thermal imaging"
• DrawingMaster plotters. The target market was architechs,
• engineers, civil planners etc. The approach I took was
• to create a message that described the plotter - not as
• what it is, but rather as what it does.
• The DrawingMaster plotter enables a user to
• express their ideas.

• Bill Gates Portrait
• - 1 9 9 0 -
• This portrait of Bill Gates was commissioned by Microsoft for the worldwide telecast of the
• Microsoft Windows 3.0 launch in May of 1990. The image used as reference for this portrait
• was a frame of video provided by the production company. The Ray Bloch team shot about an hour
• of video of Bill Gates repeatedly nudging his glasses up and saying the word "cool."
• This portrait, created using Corel Draw, matches the beginning frame of the selected take.
